Blue Apron is on a mission to make home cooking accessible to everyone, and we’re looking for a talented Vice President of Supply Chain to join our rapidly growing leadership team. In this role, you will lead our national sourcing efforts and build a team of experts in contract negotiation, farm relationships, inbound logistics, and imports. Key Responsibilities
- National Supply Chain Strategy: Develop and implement a supply chain strategy that supports the company’s mission, objectives, and customer expectations.
- Purchasing & Planning: Oversee strategic purchasing, material requirements planning, and receiving activities to meet customer demands.
- Supply Chain Culture: Build an organizational culture focused on urgency, value-added services, and accountability within the supply chain team.
- Inventory Management: Ensure proper inventory levels to meet fulfillment objectives and customer expectations.
- Strategic Sourcing & Contingency Planning: Create and manage contingency plans to ensure a steady product supply while supporting company growth.
- Forecasting & Logistics: Partner with teams on forecasting to ensure accurate product delivery, minimizing inventory exposure, and meeting demand.
- Supplier & Performance Evaluation: Improve supplier selection and evaluation processes while continuously analyzing performance and procurement success.
- Supplier Relations: Meet with suppliers to discuss performance, provide feedback, and discuss production forecasts or changes.
- Cost Control: Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to control and minimize spending on ingredients and materials.
- Warehousing & Distribution: Oversee warehousing and distribution processes to support both current and new product/packaging initiatives.
Skill & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive supervisory and management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (preferably within the food industry).
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead complex organizations and facilitate cross-functional teams.
- Technical Expertise: Strong technical skills in process manufacturing, preferably food products.
- Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance, and Operations functions.
- Supplier & Partner Relations: Demonstrated success in developing mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers and supply chain partners.
- Cost Management: Experience in managing cost performance, supply/demand forecasting, and distribution execution.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, financial, and P&L capabilities.
- Supply Chain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of key supply chain/logistics processes and current best practices.
- Agricultural Knowledge: Familiarity with agricultural practices and sustainability initiatives is preferred but not required.
