Job Description

As an E&P Approved Electrician at Siemens Mobility, you will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining electrical infrastructure for railway systems, including overhead line equipment (OLE), substations, and electrical distribution systems. This predominantly site-based role will have you working on prestigious projects across the Midlands and North of England, ensuring the electrical systems are installed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the LV team to ensure electrical tasks are completed within the required timescales and to an exceptional standard.
  • Install electrical systems based on instructions and designs provided by your Line Manager/Supervisor.
  • Verify that drawings and designs match the installed electrical installations, ensuring correct and accurate installation.
  • Mark up drawings and provide updates to your Line Manager/Supervisor on progress.
  • Perform electrical testing in compliance with BS7671 standards, completing the relevant test certifications to a high standard.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety legislation and report unsafe incidents and close calls.
  • Complete all required site documentation and reporting accurately and on time.
  • Support and mentor new and upcoming talent within the business, sharing your expertise and experience.
  • Travel and work away from home as needed for specific projects, including weekends when required.

Skill & Experience

  • ECS Gold Card with the grade of Approved Electrician.
  • Experience working in an industrial environment, particularly with installing and terminating SWA cables and flexible cables.
  • Proficient in installing cable containment such as steel trunking and conduit.
  • Experience in deriving alarms and signals from various electrical equipment for remote monitoring.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and designs.
  • 18th Edition BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations Certificate.
  • Relevant testing qualification such as City and Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395.
  • In-depth knowledge of testing various electrical installations and completing certifications using software.
  • Valid PTS Competency (desirable but not essential as training can be provided).
  • Experience with Railway installations such as Signalling power distribution, Points heating, and LV DNO installations (desirable but not essential).
  • Logical thinking, creative problem-solving skills, and a self-motivated drive for excellence.
  • Strong ability to work safely and responsibly within a team.
